Hosted by WFMY News 2, the Piedmont Winterfest occurs from November 17th, 2015 to January 31st, 2016. You can enjoy the outdoor skating rink located at The Railyard, a new development two blocks away from Natty Greene’s on South Elm Street. The physical address is: 106 Barnhardt Street, Greensboro, NC. There is free parking available as well as paid when that runs out. Along with outdoor skating, they will have an ice slide and a snack shack! Each day of the week they have a special, they are:
Chick-Fil-A Monday: Wear a cow costume and you’ll receive $2 off your ticket purchase. Also, school holidays (Dec. 21st and 28th) are not valid with this offer.
Triad Goodwill Tuesday: Since Goodwill is a sponsor of WFMY News 2 Winterfest, on Tuesdays if you skate between 4:00 – 9:00 pm then $1 of your admission total is donated to the Triad Goodwill (Not valid Dec. 22nd and 29th).
WFMY News 2 Wednesdays: These are Student & Military day where you get $2 off the regular ticket price by showing your student or military ID (Not valid Dec. 23rd & 30th).
Rice Scion Date & Skate Thursday: Bring a receipt with you from any restaurant in Downtown Greensboro with that same Thursday’s date on it, and you’ll get one free adult ticket with the purchase of one regular adult ticket (Not valid Dec. 24th & 31st).
Yes! Weekly Saturday Rave: On Saturday evenings, from 7:00 – 10:00 pm, WFMY News 2 Winterfest will play techno and dance music! If you take a video or picture of you and your friends dancing along and post it to their Facebook page, then you could win a free season pass!
Sunday Family Fun Day: On Sunday, when you buy one 12 oz. cup of hot chocolate for $2, you can get another cup free!
Only on December 13th, the Nutcracker becomes the Muttcracker. It’s the same performance but there will be dogs sprinkled in throughout it. The sales of this specific performance will also benefit a charity to be announced. There is also a special appearance this year by Miss Babe Ruth, the retired Grasshoppers “bat-dog.”
The tickets are on sale online and at the Carolina Theatre Box Office (310 South Greene Street, Greensboro, NC), Monday-Friday from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. The tickets are between $15-35 each and include a $2.50 Theatre Restoration fee.
On December 9th, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, Gate City Growlers is hosting a Yelp holiday event. During which, Daniel from Gate City Growlers, will give a lesson in beer pairings. This event will include a flight of six beers, in three ounce pours, and a lesson on each one! Next 1618 Wine Lounge will provide tasty food to pair with the beers. Then you’re welcome to go to the Wine Lounge after the event for a meal! Also, Gate City Growlers will offer $1 off every cup for those who attended the event.
You can RSVP for this event today and you can bring up to two guests. Also, if you check-in on Yelp while you’re at the event you get a free Yelp Pint Glass! Yay free stuff!
On Saturday, December 12th, 2015, you can visit Natty Greene’s Pub between 10:00 am –
12:00 pm and enjoy brunch and pet pictures with Santa! Tickets are $15.00 and include your brunch item choice, one non-alcoholic beverage, and a picture of your pup with Santa! The ticket total goes to benefit the Humane Society of the Piedmont.
The patio will be enclosed and heated to keep your fur-babies toasty throughout the event, since the dining area will be for humans only. The brunch menu is below:
Breakfast Plate – Scrambled eggs, Neese’s sausage patty, hash browns, and a buttermilk biscuit
Breakfast Burrito – Bacon, scrambled eggs, Monterey Jack & Cheddar blend, and spinach hash browns in a flour tortilla. Served with a side of hash browns.
Corned Beef Hash – Served with a side of scrambled eggs and a buttermilk biscuit
Shrimp and Grits – Fried shrimp over yellow stone ground grits with a bacon-onion-pepper-butter sauce.
